What I play

Instruments

My classical guitar, steel string guitar, mandolin, lever harp, virginals and bouzouki are all English-made. My pedal harp comes from Italy. Because I have over 100 strings to tune collectively, unless I'm having an exceptionally good day, I use a Seiko SAT 1100 chromatic tuner with a Korg acoustic clip. My piano is a Yamaha 3-pedal 88-key upright. It's the only instrument that never leaves the house, and the only instrument I don't tune myself.

Recording

Recording is a relatively new project for us, for which I must thank my tireless sound engineer and husband, Craig. His dedication and cheer, plus endless cups of tea and bawling at the cats and kids when they make too much noise, is truly inspiring. We use a Dell Optiplex computer, Yamaha MG10/2 mixing desks, Pro Tools recording software, AKG 1000s microphones, and Yamaha monitors. For sheet music, I produce the printed score/TAB with the help of Finale... a long way from the early days, when home computers were a rarity, and when parts needed writing out by hand and photocopying!
